Kentucky toll bridges

The RiverLink project[1] links Kentucky with Indiana over the Ohio river. Tolling is implemented on three bridges:

  • John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge (I-65 South)[2]
  • Abraham Lincoln Bridge (I-65 North)[3]
  • Lewis and Clark Bridge (connecting the Gene Snyder Freeway in Kentucky with State Road 265 in Indiana)[4]

However, the George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge (Second Street Bridge) and the Sherman Minton Bridge (I-64) do not have tolls.

Toll rates for Kentucky bridges

Classification Vehicle Description Prepaid Account and Transponder Prepaid Account/No Transponder PAY BY MAIL/PAY BY PLATE
Passenger Vehicle 2-axle up to 7 1/2 feet in height $2.52 $3.79 $5.04
Medium Vehicle 2-axle more than 7 1/2 feet in height, 3-axle and 4-axle $6.30 $7.55 $8.81
Large Vehicle 5-axle and more $12.57 $13.82 $15.09

Kindly be aware that for passenger vehicles carrying roof top luggage, accessories, and/or cargo, if the height exceeds 7 ½ feet, you will be subject to medium vehicle toll charges. The charges are as follows: $6.30 with a prepaid account and Tag, $7.55 with a prepaid account and no Tag, and $8.81 with an unregistered plate (Pay By Mail). Vehicles may be reclassified to a higher rate based on cargo height or if towing a trailer. Please note that these crossings are not eligible for the Frequent-User Discount. Kentucky toll calculator calculates tolls for cars, trucks, trailers, buses, RVs and motorcycles for all the RiverLink project bridges. The tolls are for both peaks and off-peaks, at the time of your travel.

Toll rates on this page might not be updated recently. Please refer to our toll & trip calculators and the Toll API for latest toll rates. Please send us a feedback if toll rates are not accurate. We will update the information immediately.

How to pay toll in Kentucky

Tolls in Kentucky are managed by RiverLink[5] and all the toll facilities have all electronic tolling, meaning no cash booths. Various payment methods for toll payment in Kentucky are linked.

Truck toll in Kentucky

Trucks on RiverLink project are classified as medium vehicles and heavy vehicles. 2-axle trucks higher than 7.5 feet, 3-axle trucks, and 4-axle trucks pay tolls for medium vehicles. 5-axle or more axle trucks pay heavy vehicle tolls. What happens if you don’t pay tolls in Kentucky

If customers don't pay their tolls, they'll get extra fees and might not be able to register their vehicles until they pay up. They might also face collections or legal action to make sure everyone pays their fair share.

How to pay missed toll in Kentucky

If you did not have a RiverLink[6]account for tolls in Kentucky, or compatible E-ZPass from other states (such as Indiana E-ZPass), you would be paying a higher toll fee (Invoice is sent to the license plate registered address). To pay the invoice you would need the Invoice Number, License Plate information (State and Number), and a payment method (credit card, debit card, or ACH). But if you were driving a rental car, you would not be able to pay the tolls directly to RiverLink. The invoices for missed tolls for rental cars are sent to the rental car company. Therefore, depending on the rental car agency’s policies, you might have to pay toll charges to your rental company.

To know your options better, we suggest you to please reach out to RiverlLink, the agency that manages tolls in Indiana and Kentucky, at 1-855 RIV-LINK (748-5465) or email your query at riverlink.inquiry@riverlink.com.
