How is the toll calculated on the Pennsylvania Turnpike

Tolls on Pennsylvania turnpikes use a ticket system, cashless and the E-ZPass. The toll road uses a ticket system of tolling between the Warrendale and Neshaminy Falls toll plazas. An additional eastbound toll plaza is located at Gateway, near the Ohio border, while a cashless westbound toll plaza using toll-by-plate is located at the Delaware River Bridge.

Pennsylvania Toll Calculator also calculates tolls for cars, trucks, trailers, buses, RVs and motorcycles for the Delaware River Bridge; it also calculates tolls during peaks and off-peaks, at the time of your travel.

How do I pay toll on the Pennsylvania Turnpike

Tolls on the Pennsylvania turnpike could be paid using

a) E-ZPass in Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania Turnpike accepts the E-ZPass which helps save money by offering automatic discount programs. E-ZPass is an electronic toll collection system. Instead of cash, with an E-Zpass account, you could prepay tolls with the help of a transponder attached to your vehicle. Tolls are automatically deducted from your prepaid account when you pass through the toll lane.

b) Pay-by-plate in Pennsylvania

If you do not have an E-ZPass and pass through the all-electronic tolling point, a toll-by-plate invoice would be sent to you. A picture of the license plate would be taken and an invoice mailed to the vehicle’s registered owner.

c) NationalPass

NationalPass[1] is a toll interoperability solution with seamless access to U.S. toll roads without managing multiple transponders or toll accounts. Travelers are considered local customers of all toll roads that accept NationalPass providing the lowest available toll rate.
